By default, windows XP does not list Instant Messenger on the add/remove programs. SOOOO, lets add it!

Step 1: (Make it available in the Add or Remove Programs)
Launch Windows Explorer:
(Its in START – Programs – Accessories – Windows Explorer)
From the menu select tools then Folder Options
Select the View tab
Check “Show hidden files and folders”
Select OK

Change into the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory
Right click on SYSOC.INF file and select OPEN
find the following line:

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,HIDE,7

change it to:

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

Select File then Save, then File and Exit the program.

Step 2: (Remove it!)
In the control panel double click the Add or Remove Programs Icon
Select Add/Remove Windows Components
Un-Check Windows Messenger.
Select Next
Select Finished!

Bye Bye IM!
