Design Expo 2006
Well we’re moving along with the planning process of this 2 week endeavor. It’s set to happen in October of 2006. A two week design event held in Raleigh that is modeled after design expos held in Australia and Japan. Currently assessing the lecture events, panel discussions, industry participants and logistics of planning/meeting/scheduling.
The Mission
The purpose of Design Expo Raleigh is to showcase great design to the public and give designers, both professionals and students, a format to display and discuss their work. It is a unique showcase of an array of applied arts coming together as a whole. Design Expo Raleigh creates awareness to the public of many design disciplines under one umbrella and an opportunity for designers from different disciplines to network with each other, students, and the public.
Design Expo Raleigh ’06 is a celebration of the incredible designers and innovation that call the Triangle home. Design Expo Raleigh 06 will showcase the applied arts, including Animation, Architecture, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, and Textile/Fashion Design. Exhibitions, lectures, tours, receptions, and even a fashion show highlight this celebration. It is the goal of Design Expo Raleigh 06 to bring awareness to the public of the great design that is happening here in the Triangle. The theme for this year’s Exhibition is Hidden Gems: Great Design in Our Own Backyard. We have a powerful and wonderful design community it is time for the rest of the world to know about it.
Design Expo Raleigh ’06 will have an Exhibition ’06 showcasing approximately 20 entries from each discipline. In addition to Exhibition 06, there will be lectures featuring both the educational and professional aspects of each discipline and tours of specific projects giving the public and other designers a unique perspective a designers creation. Also scheduled is a Designers Market 06 which will allow designers to sell their designs directly to the public.
