Windows XP Service Pack 2
Whatever you do… Install Service Pack 2 w/extreme caution.
Like a good little computer user I thought it’d be a good idea to upgrade my system but unfortunately the internet security system in this behemoth of an update is so secure it will not let you access anything on the net. It fakes you out as it promptly loads websites and information; suddenly everything comes to a crawl and pages no longer load. I had issues with my DSL connection through Sprint/Earthlink ever since I installed the service pack. Apparently they are aware of these issues as well and it has to do with the firewall settings in SP2 from MS. I ended up having to revert back to a previous install/update to get the system back up and running again. It apparently only has issues with IE itself… I’m still able to ping websites and servers through a DOS window.
Please Note: The presentation files for Summer Session II’s Consulting 590R class have been removed from the server. If you need them please email me directly. Thanks.
