{"id":1507,"date":"2013-03-06T15:26:25","date_gmt":"2013-03-06T15:26:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onebitpixel.com\/aml\/?page_id=1507"},"modified":"2013-03-06T15:40:34","modified_gmt":"2013-03-06T15:40:34","slug":"research-qart-code","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/onebitpixel.com\/aml\/?page_id=1507","title":{"rendered":"Research: Q-Art Code Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/arts\/content\/CityMgrArts\/Articles\/ArtsCommission.html\">City of\u00a0Raleigh Arts Commission<\/a> partnered with the students and staff of the <a title=\"NC State University, College of Design\" href=\"http:\/\/design-dev.ncsu.edu\/facilities-resources\/aml\">NC State College of Design<\/a> Advanced Media Lab to create a mobile media showcase of 12 public artworks in the City&#8217;s public art collection. The Q-Art Code project will allow the City to raise the public&#8217;s awareness about the impact of public art and its cultural contributions to the City of Raleigh.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/q-artcode.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/raleighcom.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"raleighcom\" src=\"http:\/\/q-artcode.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/raleighcom.png\" width=\"308\" height=\"151\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The official launch and celebration of the Q-Art Code Project took place March 1 at CAM Raleigh.\u00a0Mayor Nancy McFarlane spoke about the value of public art in Raleigh and how the project will enable access to information about artworks in the City&#8217;s collection.<\/p>\n<p>In attendance were participating artists along with students from NC State University&#8217;s Advanced Media Lab who spent their Fall 2012 semester researching and interviewing the artists about their sculptures.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"864\" height=\"486\" id=\"_59878235\" data=\"http:\/\/wwwcache.wral.com\/presentation\/v2\/flash\/video\/vp-wral.swf?v=20130225a\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/wwwcache.wral.com\/presentation\/v2\/flash\/video\/vp-wral.swf?v=20130225a\" \/><param name=\"index\" value=\"-1\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"bgcolor\" value=\"#000000\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"flashvars\" value=\"config={'url':'http:\/\/www.wral.com\/news\/local\/video\/12151035\/?version=fpconfig','plugins':{}}\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>QR Codes and descriptions are placed at the location of each of the sculptures. Viewers can simply take a picture of the code with their smartphone (and QRcode app) to see a short video\/animation that helps explain the artwork, the artist and its historical context.
